GAC's composite wing flying car makes its maiden flight! More than 90% of the aircraft's components are made of carbon fiber aviation composite materials

GAC Auto's first independently developed composite-wing flying car, the GOVY AirJet, successfully completed its maiden flight on July 3rd.

 

The GOVY AirJet, GAC Auto's first composite-wing flying car, features eight propellers and a dual-ducted composite wing configuration, enabling rapid takeoff and landing without a runway, making it suitable for complex urban environments.

 

Powered by GAC's independently developed high-performance electric drive system, the GOVY AirJet boasts a maximum speed of 250 km/h and a range of 200 km, meeting the needs of short- and medium-distance travel between cities in the Greater Bay Area. Furthermore, the GOVY AirJet supports rapid recharging within 25 minutes.

 

In terms of safety, the GOVY AirJet utilizes a lightweight design that exceeds aviation-grade safety standards, with over 90% of its components constructed from carbon fiber aviation composite materials. The battery system is equipped with multiple protection mechanisms to monitor battery status in real time to ensure flight safety. The GOVY AirJet is also equipped with an intelligent perception, obstacle avoidance, and decision-making system that can identify the flight environment, automatically plan a safe flight path, and avoid collisions.

 

The GOVY AirJet features a flexible "1+1+X" cabin layout, allowing for adjustable seating according to passenger needs, accommodating up to four people. The cabin features a "Flexible Function Integrated Floating Island" and a "Pixel Galaxy" starry sky ceiling.

 

GAC Group reports that GAC Goland plans to build multiple take-off and landing stations in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, establishing a low-altitude travel network and enabling fast inter-city connections. Upon operational operation, the GOVY AirJet's fares are expected to be approximately twice those of taxis, allowing passengers to enjoy flight services at a relatively reasonable price.

 

GAC Goland plans to launch pilot operations in two to three cities within the Greater Bay Area by 2027, gradually refining its operating model and service system. As technology matures and costs decrease, GOVY AirJet is expected to reduce ground commuting times from one to two hours to under 40 minutes.

 

GAC GOVY will also develop an end-to-end, low-altitude, three-dimensional Robo-AirTaxi system, seamlessly integrating with ground transportation and providing users with a one-stop travel solution. Furthermore, GAC GOVY will actively explore the application of flying cars in cultural tourism, emergency rescue, logistics, and other fields.
